Roblox's The Rake: Classic Edition

The Rake Is a horror game on Roblox where your goal is to survive the creature(The Rake) each night by staying in groups and finding shelter. Although you don't really have to survive with others, it sure is a relief when you find someone. By surviving a night you are rewarded with points(in game currency) which you can use to buy gear.

Hiding from the rake

Although none of the shelters truly protect you from the rake, they will buy you some time. Of the shelters I would say the safest shelter is the Safe House. Its a small one room house that has a sturdy door and a light. The problem is that the power will go out it you don't use it wisely. So once you get inside the Safe House, you have to keep the door open so that you don't waste any power that you would probably need later. You can let others in the house and work together to conserve the power. But here's the most depressing part; closing the door will not protect you from the rake. There is a large hole in the roof which The Rake can jump into and kill all those inside. The next "shelter" is the observation tower. Its pretty pointless because you can only see a few feet ahead of you considering that its so dark and the fog is so thick. Plus The Rake can crawl quickly up the ladder. Jumping off the tower in an effort to escape the creature will take your health down by a lot and will give you less running speed, so I wouldn't recomend using the Tower as a place to hide.

More Survivals Equals More Gear

After surviving a round the sun comes out again and you can run to the Shop and get some gear. Everything at the shop is around 80 points or higher, so if you're new to the game and its your first survival you might need to save up a little more to buy some good gear. The gear you can buy in the game are things like Pain Killers, Maps, A Watch, traps, a Med Kit, and more. But keep in mind that once you die you cant keep the stuff you bought, you have you buy them again. If you survive, you can keep them until you die again.

The Inspiration

The Rake got its name from its long, sharp, rake like claws. It's most associated with the creature (above). It is described by original reports as; "a "naked man, or a "large hairless dog of some sort," with a body position that seemed "unnatural, as if it had been hit by a car or something." Its features are similar to those of a human being, with its body shape although it gets around on all 4's. The Rake was supposedly caught on camera which is shown in the picture above. Its described as a boney, pale, alien like creature and is said to have very sharp long claws, which is how it got its name. Sources say that the Rake attacked a family of 3 in 2006, killing the father and daughter. It is said to only come out at night and kill.

Review

Overall, I really like this game and I come back and play every now and then. I recommend this game for playing with friends. I would say the gameplay was fun and the audio was realistic when you're panting, and when you run you hear the ground under your characters feet. The music that plays when The Rake is around seems very fitting. When the game starts and the sky darkens I always get excited to survive. The setting and the thick fog will make you feel tense and like you're being watched. I feel like the creator could make it less dark because I find myself squinting and getting closer to my screen as I play.
