Tomodachi Life is one of my favorite 3Ds games. It brings back memories of happy times of when I was a happy-go-lucky energetic 11 year old. Tomodachi life is pretty much a game where you create characters or Mii's, and put them in a single apartment building on an island where they interact and can become friends or enemies. In this game there are tons of things to let your Mii's do! you can schedule dates, hangouts, and you could even make Mii's have rap battles with each other. If you create a lot of Mii's, each can have different relationships that you wouldn't even know about. If you go to any of the hangout sites on the game, you will most likely find Mii's hanging out together. You can even check on Mii's in their own apartments and see what their doing. The things you would likely see are Mii's sleeping, Mii's visiting other Mii's and having dance parties or Mii's playing games with one another. If you catch a Mii sleeping there are times where you can see what the Mii is dreaming about. The dreams can be really weird ones or just dreams about food or random objects. If you want to send a Mii on an errand you have to wait until they wake up in respect of a Mii's precious sleep. You can also draw on the Mii's faces as they talk in their sleep. Tomodachi Life feels a lot like real life, where you can make friendships, try new things, and go places. Tomodachi would be the way you say "friend" in the Japanese language.

Tomodachi Life was released in Japan in April 2013, then was released worldwide in June of 2014 by Nintendo, which is a pretty well known company. Originating as a card company and eventually evolving into video games! This company is the creator of top-selling video game franchises, such as Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Pokémon.

Summary:

  • Tomodachi means friend in Japanese

Last week in my DDA class, we headed into a new software called Adobe Illustrator. I noticed there were some new tools inAdobe Illustrator: such as the Artboard Tool- Which is used to create other canvases within the same image and its also used to resize. The Shape Tools- which you use if you want to make existing basic shapes. if you right click on this tool you will see options that drop down such as the rectangle tool, the polygon shape tool, rounded rectangle, eclipse, star tool, and Line tool.

Selection Tool - Lets you select objects and drag them. Direct Selection Tool - Lets you select individual anchor points. Something that's also different is the colors and where you can put them. When you make shapes you can choose the Fill color and the outline color, or the Stroke. With the outline color you can either choose a color, make it a gradient, or just take it out completely. There is also a tool where you can merge existing shapes into each other to create new ones. These are called Shape Modes. Such as Union - which is the connection the selected shapes, Intersect - when a new shape is created using the overlapping areas of the selected shapes, Exclude - Creates a new shape deleting only the overlapping areas of the selected shapes, and Minus Front - Deletes the shape that is on top from the selected shape. We used these tools in creating a pizza (in image below) where we made a triangle shape, and cropped a rectangle in the image so that it looks more like a pizza. To do this you select the selection tool and select the shape you want to work on and use the Exclude Shape Mode which is the process of removing only the overlapping areas.

Summary

  • Into Adobe Illustrator!

  • New tools

Playing games on my 3DS an 2DS was a big part of my childhood. One of the games that still stick with me to this day is Cooking Mama and more specifically Cooking Mama 3 Shop and Chop. In this game, you can choose one of the many foods to try to cook and Mama will rate the quality. She will encourage (but not assist) you on through each step of the cooking process. If you do great you get a gold medal, if done good you get a silver metal, and bronze if you did bad. This game has a problem where vague instructions left me sometimes scrambling to figure out what to do. For example one task that was pretty frustrating was peeling potatoes (which would take about 10 seconds to complete). For each step you would get a varied amount of seconds to be able to complete them. It took repeated tries in order to figure out the correct procedure for certain tasks and even though cooking requires practice and repetition, this doesn't always make for a fun game. Even though at times it got old fast I always managed to come back to it. There was this one mode of the game where your job was to go shopping. In the store you would have to avoid adults and Children, which would be the ones who ask you favors and pretty much slow you down. You have a time crunch and you can't spend too much time in there. Overall although simple, Mama will keep you coming back for more lessons.

Summary

  • Make Mama proud

  • Nintendo games

  • Avoid people and get medals
